Description

Currents and Sea Surface height data derived from satellite altimetry are regarded by ocean scientists as the best available information about the state of the ocean.
The grib we provide is processed from raw data provided by the CSIRO/IMOS, It is not a forecast, but should be considered an analysis of currents and sea surface height referenced at 6 days ago, with some parts of the data being more recent  (1day old)  and some less recent  (10 days old).
It is the product used by every winner of the Sydney to Hobart, Sydney to Gold Coast, Pittwater to Coffs and Lord Howe races since Dec 2008 See results and we regard it to be the best available information about ocean currents in the Australasian region.
